Writer’s Block Blog

This may be something of an oxymoron, but I’ve been contemplating writing a writer’s block blog: a place to write about writer’s block.

I actually don’t feel blocked at the moment, rather somewhat overwhelmed by having so much I want to write about. But, I think a place for writers to share their angst would be a welcomed place to hang out.

The idea has an interesting beginning. I was observing the artists at our church do “art fusion,” where each artist begins a sketch, painting, etc., then they rotate and add their respective take to each piece. The progression of it all is quite amazing. And it struck me that this would be something that could be useful for writers.

I have numerous unfinished books, stories, and other projects that could benefit from a shot fresh perspective. And I doubt I’m alone in this. I suspect finished works are more valuable than unfinished works even if credit has to be shared. “Writing fusion” is only one possibility. It would probably be mostly tips, thoughts, observations, and other random stuff for writers to chew on.

So, do you think anyone would participate (I’m not asking for commitments, just thoughts about the idea)?

In my opinion, the best thing to do is try it out. If it doesn’t work, then quit. If it is beneficial then you will be happy that you gave it a shot. Give yourself an initial time frame of a few weeks or months and then go for it. I wouldn’t make it your sole focus either, just maintain a steady flow of your usual content plus the new idea (assuming that is what you want to do).

I agree with Nathan. Actually, I’m not sure that I’ve got writer’s block as often as I have “I’m too busy” block! BUT the writer’s fusion is an interesting idea and I’d love to have a place where I feel comfortable to talk about writing.

Nathan, I agree. I’ve done this before with another personal blog, but I lost my flavor for it because this blog is my first blog love. But, a blog that might actually be helpful and practical might keep me motivated. Thanks.

Bitsy, yes, busy-ness is a primary cause of my blogging hiatuses(?), but I do need a repository of writing ideas for when inspiration strikes, and I have an on-again, off-again relationship with journals-they tend to stray, or miraculously lose, swap or hide content.

Brother, and I’m not just saying this because I think you’re a swell guy and my blogoreffic boy… but that’s a genius idea. I love oxymorons. Shoot, I have been thinking about blogging about them but for fear of running out of them, I declined.

But there’s always that Twitter thing.

Thanks, I think I’ll give it a shot some day. I just don’t know when I would fit it in.
