Announcement for Office of County Judge
Yesterday, I announced my intent to file for the office of County Judge for Nolan County, Texas. The announcement ran in our local newspaper, so I thought I would share that bit of information here as well.
The front page article: Lopez announces intent to file for county judge position, along with the accompanying family photo.
The office will be on the primary election ballot in March and on the general election ballot in November. This is a new direction for me and my family, but one we have come into agreement about. We are looking forward to the campaign and the opportunity to serve the citizens of Nolan County.
Campaign and election news and updates will be posted on petermlopez.com (my firm website), so please keep updated there.

If you need any advice, I can tell you a few things NOT TO DO. lol And by the way, I noticed you didn’t say which party you will file with? Just asking. LOL
Love you Peter and am proud of you. All kidding aside I know a couple of people in Sweetwater and I will give a good report.
Everything here locally is still decided in the Democratic primary (old school style), I hope you’re not too disappointed
I appreciate you, every vote counts.
They got your daughter’s name wrong.
Jeff
I didn’t clue them in on “The Libster.” Perhaps I should have, we get a lot of mileage out of that nickname, much to my wife’s chagrin.
You know Peter it was only a few years ago when everything in Knox County was decided in the democrat primary (notice democrat not democratic…there is a difference LOL) Back in 1994 when I ran for State Representative there was not a Republican in the County except me and a couple more. We use to say we could meet in a phone booth. Today we have a Republican Judge. He was a brave soul but is a great Christian man and he worked hard. He beat back about 5 guys but didn’t have an opponent in the Primary. The last man standing was so bitter when he got beat he has just about dropped out of the country. I use to be in toastmaster with him and liked him but Travis (the guy who won) was an outspoken Christian and friend.
Do they have no Republican Primaries in Nolan County? If not, I need to get down there and start one. LOL
P.S. I’m not much of a Republican anymore…
We do have Republican primaries, and I suspect they will be better participated in over time, most everyone around here votes Republican in Presidential, national and state elections anyway. It just hasn’t taken hold locally, yet.
Trying to talk Ron into moving back to Texas in time to vote
Bitsy, excellent! You’ve got 3 mos. until the primary.
I’d join the Dems just to vote for you…and Libby.
Actually, Larry, you may not have to, we are still debating the merits of filing in each primary.
