Internet Addiction Detox

Addicted to the internet?

If you’re reading this, you probably are. And there’s good news for your addiction.

A CNET blog is reporting America’s first internet addiction detox program, appropriately named reSTART, is open for business. The Heavensfield Retreat Center’s “Internet Addiction Recovery Program” provides “treatment for internet, gaming, texting and video game abuse.”

What, no blogging? They’re missing out on a huge pool of addicts, aren’t they?

However, for a mere $14,500 you too can spend 45 days in Heavensfield, located outside of Seattle, WA, and kick your internet, texting or video game addiction. Bloggers, too bad.

Will that bargain basement price cover those of us who check our email, and then, just in case someone sent another email while we were reading our emails, we click on ‘send and receive’, and then, just in case someone sent another email straight after we clicked on ‘send and receive’, we click on it again, and then we wait a few seconds and click it again – just to be sure? Anyway I can’t stay n chat – gotta check my email…

Well, it doesn’t specify “email” addiction or “neurosis,” but I bet they would give it a go.

I’m not addicted. I have a glandular problem.

I plan on spending one day without the internet in September.

I don’t have a problem. You have a problem. Leave me alone. I am blogging. I don’t need to blog everyday – I am a social blogger. It’s not a problem. I can quit anytime I want to.

    I need help…..

  4. #6 by Joel on August 20, 2009 - 8:01 pm

No. You need help. If y’all love me, you would support me.

    I’m leaving.

  5. #7 by Joel on August 20, 2009 - 8:01 pm

Okay, I didn’t mean that. I’ll stay, but I will blog when I want to.

Joel, I think you need more than a mere 45-day stay.

Three messages from Joel. Talk about doth protesting too much! How is he going to explain this to his kids?
    Jeff

Jeff, I must have touched a nerve.

Joel, admit it, my cyber-addicted friend, you need help.

        • #14 by Joel on August 24, 2009 - 3:10 pm

          I admit nothing.

          • #15 by petermlopez on August 24, 2009 - 3:30 pm

You don’t have to. You’re denials say it all.

      • #16 by Scripture Zealot on August 25, 2009 - 11:23 am

Your circular ad hominem strawman red herring arguments have no effect on me. Plus I don’t understand what you just said.

I am the one spending a day fasting from the interwebz and emailizing. I’m glad I’m not like all of you.
        Jeff

Jeff, even if you were like all of us, you still wouldn’t be like all of us.

Perhaps each of you are projecting….

My s/o is internet addicted. He asked me what I wanted for my birthday, and I told him a day with no tv and no p/c. He did not grant my birthday wish. He wakes up, eats, showers, gets on his p/c and stays on it until he goes to sleep… what can I do?

    • #21 by Peter on October 14, 2010 - 9:40 am

A whole day w/no pc. Yikes. I’m just kidding. I hope he’s able to work through the addiction.

In other words, it is a losing battle I am fighting. How I detest computers for taking the love of my life from me! Would have been easier to deal with if it had been a living woman. A computer? Leapin’ Lemurs! Life is so unfair. Is there not a man who does not use a p/c left in this world?

You completed several fine points there. I did a search on the subject matter and found nearly all persons will consent with your blog.
