Reorganizing My Reader

Okay, since so many of you have moved to WordPress (cheers!), I’ve had to reorganize my Google Reader. I’ve also learned that you cannot unsubscribe from a Blogger blog that you are also following. It just keeps reappearing in the reader.

So, I have stopped following all of you who have moved, but only on Blogger. Please assume I still love you all, but I have only your new blogs active in my reader now (I think).

If for some reason you suspect that I don’t, please let me know.

That is odd, as I’ve had no problems unsubscribing from Blogger blogs. What procedure are you using?

I haven’t had problems unsubscribing, only unsubscribing from blogs that I have followed from by Blogger account. I also have a Blogger blog, and all of the Blogger blogs that I’ve “followed” remain in my reader under the “Blogs I’m following” category.

That is odd. I also use google reader, but I do not have that last category. For me it is called “subscriptions” and not “blogs I’m following”. To unsubscribe, all I do is click on the blog name under subscriptions, and then there is a drop down menu called “feed settings” and I click on the option to “unsubscribe”. This has worked for all blog types, including Blogger blogs. I am curious which method you use to get to a heading that says “Blogs I’m following” ?

Since a picture is worth a thousand words:

I use Reader, but a subcategory under the Reader subscriptions is “Blogs I’m following.”

Hmm, it looks like there is a separate Blogger specific function that allows you to “follow” a blog. It seems you are confusing that for the actual Google Reader, which functions differently. I would recommend giving the Reader a try, if all you are presently doing is using the Blogger “follow” feature.

That’s exactly how I unsubscribe. Under my “Subscriptions” list, there is a “Blogs I’m following” category and list. If you have a blogger account, you can “follow” Blogger blogs and allow your avatar to appear on their blog, and all of the blogs you follow appear in your subscription list as “Blogs I’m following.”

Hmm, no idea then really. I tried out blogger, and still have my avatar, etc. through it, but I deleted the blog itself. I did a quick search but couldn’t find any ideas that looked directly related to your problem. Surely this has happened to other people before.

It was no problem, really. I just had to both unsubscribe (in Reader) and stop following (in Blogger). Mission accomplished. Thanks for your help and concern. I appreciate it.

Peter, I have had the same problem. It is very odd to stop “following” a blog you have been faithfully following – even if they have moved.

I know, it kind of makes you feel guilty, even if they have moved. That pesky condemnation…
